Sharing Virtual Card Details
Share card details safely and efficiently with your suppliers using secure, time-limited links. No more screenshots or copying sensitive information into emails.
This feature is currently available to select customers. If you don't see the sharing options described below and would like to use secure card links, please get in touch with Modulr support.
Why use secure card links?
When you create a secure card link, you can:
- Share safely – Send card details without exposing sensitive information in emails
- Save time – Skip the screenshot-and-attach routine
- Add context – Include booking references and messages so suppliers know exactly what the payment is for
- Stay in control – Set how many times the details can be viewed and when the link expires
You have two sharing options:
- Email – Modulr sends the link automatically to the email addresses you provide
- Link only – Generate a link to include in your own customised emails

Email or Link only?
Email – Modulr will send the link automatically to the email addresses you provide. The email will include your message and any supporting data you choose to share.
Link only – Generate a link without sending an email. Choose this if you want to send your own customised email or share the link another way.
Email addresses (Email option only)
Enter the supplier's email address and click Add.
Sharing with multiple recipients:
- Add addresses one at a time, or
- Enter a comma-separated list and click Add once
Each email address receives its own unique link with separate access limits. For example, if you share with john@anicehotel.com and peter@anicehotel.com, both John and Peter get different links, each with their own reveal count.
Reveal count
This is the number of times the recipient can view the sensitive card details (card number, expiry date, and CVV). They can open the link as many times as they like, but can only reveal the actual card details the number of times you specify here.
Link expiry date
The link becomes inaccessible after this date.
Important: The expiry date cannot be later than:
- The card cancellation date, or
- The last date of the authorisation window (if your card has one set)
Include supporting data
By default, recipients see only what they need to process payment: card number, expiry date, and CVV.
Including supporting data helps suppliers charge the correct amount and link the card to the right booking. You can include:
- Card limit (and currency) – So they know the maximum amount available
- Authorisation window – To show when the card can be used
- Booking reference – To link the payment to a specific reservation
- Guest name – For additional context
Supporting data appears in both the Modulr email and when the recipient views the card details. Including the right information reduces payment failures and eliminates back-and-forth with suppliers.
Message
Add a personal note to the card recipient. Your message will appear in the Modulr email and when the recipient accesses the card details.
